FIRE-RES : nouveau projet sur les incendies de forêt en montagne !

En décembre 2021, Euromontana commencera à travailler sur FIRE-RES : un nouveau projet européen sur les incendies extrêmes dans les zones montagneuses et forestières d’Europe et au-delà.

Les vagues de chaleur et les incendies de forêt seront de plus en plus fréquents dans un avenir proche en raison du changement climatique. Selon le Système Européen d’Information sur les Feux de Forêt, en 2021, le nombre d’incendies en Europe a largement dépassé la moyenne des années précédentes. Des exemples  emblématiques sont les incendies de forêt en Grèce et en Italie cet été en Europe, ou encore au Canada cette année.

 

Quel est l’objectif de FIRE-RES ?

Financé par Horizon 2020, le projet FIRE-RES vise à doter l’Union européenne de la capacité de résister à des incendies de forêt extrêmes. À cette fin, sur une période de 4 ans, le projet développera de multiples actions d’innovation et 11 Laboratoires Vivants pour favoriser la transition socio-technologique et mettre en œuvre une stratégie holistique et intégrée de gestion des incendies.  Les Laboratoires Vivants seront situés dans différentes parties de l’Europe (y compris le Nord, le Centre et le Sud de l’Europe) ainsi qu’une étude de cas en Amérique du Sud, et serviront de sites de démonstration des innovations de FIRE-RES.

 

Qui est derrière FIRE-RES ?

Le projet sera coordonné par le Centre des Sciences et Technologies Forestières de Catalogne et il réunit un partenariat de 35 protagonistes clés, sélectionnés parmi les acteurs de l’enseignement et de la recherche, des acteurs privés, des associations et des réseaux. Euromontana dirigera la stratégie de communication et de diffusion du projet.
