Maternité Alpine : l’innovation sociale améliore les soins de santé en zones de montagne

En 2015, dans le canton de Berne, en Suisse, le service d’obstétrique de l’hôpital de Zweisimmen a été fermé. En réaction, la population locale (qui compte environ 3 000 habitants) a créé la même année une coopérative pour maintenir les services de soins obstétriques à l’échelon local. Deux ans plus tard, en 2017, cette action collective a conduit à l’ouverture de la Maternité Alpine de Zweisimmen.

Au cours de sa première année d’existence, 61 femmes ont accouché à la Maternité Alpine et jusqu’à 80 accouchements sont prévus chaque année. Au total, dans la région Obersimmental-Saanenland, 51% des accouchements naturels ont lieu à la Maternité Alpine.

L’ouverture d’une maternité améliore l’offre de services dans la région. L’engagement collectif de cette communauté locale pour faire face au manque de soins dans la région et le modèle de gouvernance de la coopérative en font une innovation sociale inspirante.

Today, Euromontana had the pleasure to take part in the journalist training course “Transizione ecologica nelle aree montane: biodiversità, cambiamento climatico e sviluppo sostenibile”, organised by Università della Montagna with the Ordine dei Giornalisti della Lombardia (the Lombardy Association of Journalists 📰)The course, bringing together 65+ participants, focused on how to better understand and report on ecological transition in mountain areas, from biodiversity and climate change to sustainable development ⛰️👉This matters because the way mountain areas are reported shapes the way they are understood and, ultimately, the way they are governed!We were pleased to join our member UNIMONT in this exchange. Prof. Anna Giorgi highlighted the need to change the way mountain areas are perceived, beyond fragility and marginality. Stefano Sala then showed how issues such as depopulation, winter tourism, climate change and public policy require a more nuanced reading of mountain realities 🔍 For Euromontana, Guillaume Corradino brought a European perspective to the discussion.
