P-IRIS is organising its final conference online on February 11. 2021. P-IRIS is an Interreg Europe project (2017-2021) standing for: Policies to improve rural areas’ innovation systems by professionalising networking activities and use of innovation tools.

The project is based on the observation that young people are leaving rural areas because they do not find jobs answering their professional aspirations. There is therefore a need to boost innovation in these areas in order to develop knowledge-based or creative businesses, offering attractive jobs for well-educated and creative young people.

The partners from Norway, Finland, Slovenia, Croatia, Italy and Spain have identified that triple helix (3H) or quadruple helix (4H) cooperation is important to boost innovation in rural areas. Some Euromontana members are involved in this project such as Vestland County Municipality in Norway, the Local Development Agency PINS in Croatia, Poliedra in Italy and the Society for the Development of the Province of Burgos in Spain.

Programme and registration

Day 1 – February 10 – from 12.50 to 15.30. Digital workshop on Living labs and user groups as part of rural innovation systems

Are you interested in smart communities and smart villages, innovation networks and living labs and how the concepts can be applied in rural areas? Join P-IRIS on February 10 for a digital workshop on Living labs and user groups as part of rural innovation systems. The focus will be on inhabitants as partners in innovation. You will hear examples from Norway and have the opportunity to learn about GNIST, a Norwegian program introducing methodology for initiating innovation processes based upon public needs.

Day 2 – February 11 – from 9.50 to 12.45. Presentation of project achievements

Day 2 will be dedicated to project achievements and official conclusion of the project. P-IRIS partners will present a new tool-box designed to give access to a set of tools useful in developing and maintaining innovative networks. This will be followed by a presentation on co-working spaces that were developed in rural regions of Croatia, Finland and Slovenia. The session will be concluded with a presentation of a Position paper that sums up P-IRIS’ experience in 7 key messages.
