The European Commission’s Directorate-General for Regional and Urban Policy is organising four events about good governance for EU regional policy in February and March 2022. On 10 March 2022 (10:00 – 12:00) there will be an online political debate with the Commissioner on strengthening citizen engagement in Cohesion Policy.
This session will present the outcomes of a pilot project run with the OECD to develop good practices on how to strengthen citizen engagement in programme implementation and the results of a grant scheme to civil society organisations. This will be preceded by a high-level panel discussing the importance of citizen engagement in the design and implementation of Cohesion Policy and in a wider and strategic EU policy context. At the end, a new joint initiative by the OECD and DG REGIO will be launched that involves programme authorities and beneficiaries of the European Regional Development Fund and civil society organisations.
