The 12th edition of the European Week of Regions and Cities, better known as the Open Days, will take place this year between the 7th and the 9th of October in Brussels. Organised by the Committee of the Regions and the European Commission (DG Regio) the Open Days are the key event for regional and local authorities to showcase their importance as regards the implementation of EU cohesion policy.

During the three days, stakeholders from 200 EU regions and cities will have the opportunity to discuss the themes of the 2014-2020 Cohesion policy programme. At the same time, the event will be the occasion to explore the new instruments that are going to be adopted by the Council of the EU under the Italian presidency’s semester, such as the new European Territorial Cooperation programme or the Adriatic-Ionian Macro-regional Strategy.

Gathered under the Open Days’ sloganGrowing together – Smart investment for people’, several workshops will be organised around the following topics:

  • Connecting regional strategies: digital agenda, SME support, social inclusion…
  • Building capacity: exchange of good practices and instruments in programme management…
  • Territorial cooperation: INTERREG, URBACT, international cooperation…

You can find the whole programme here and can register here for one or several of the 100 workshops organised.
