Kohesio: a platform to learn about the Cohesion Policy results in your region

The European Commission launched the Kohesio platform. This platform provides a snapshot on more than 1,5 million of projects financed in the European Union via the funds of the Cohesion Policy, including in mountain areas of Europe.

Cohesion Forum: A targeted event to discuss about territorial cohesion across Europe

On 17th and 18th March 2022, more than 2,000 representatives of European institutions, authorities, social and economic partners, non-governmental organisations and academia met in Brussels to speak about territorial, social and economic cohesion, as part of the Cohesion Forum.

Held annually, this event is a key occasion to discuss about the achievements of the Cohesion Policy across Europe, as well as to reflect on future opportunities and ways to develop it. During this event, the European Commission presented the 8th Cohesion Report, summarising the achievement of the Cohesion Policy over the last decade, and the Kohesio platform.

Kohesio: A platform to discover the achievements of the Cohesion Policy

Kohesio is an open and free access platform managed by the European Commission that gathers 1,5 million of projects financed in the European Union via the funds of the Cohesion Policy since 2014. โ€œWith only a few clicks anyone can discover exactly how the EU invests in our regions and cities to foster convergence and economic, social and territorial cohesionโ€, states the European Commissioner Elisa Ferreira.

By using the keyword โ€œmountainโ€, you can learn about what projects the Cohesion Policy financed in mountain areas. Listed projects range across different themes: from the adaptation of mountain forests to climate change in Poland, the development of tourism attractiveness in the Alpine lakes (Italy), to a thematic research centre on mountain ecosystem services, deep learning and artificial intelligence in Spain.

You can also discover the projects funded in each region or in each thematic priority. Similar tools are highly welcomed as they allow more citizens to understand how the Cohesion Policy impact them in the place where they live.

๐ŸงŠ Glaciers matter for water, food and livelihoods in mountains and beyond. This is what we are highlighting this year on 11 December, International Mountain Day.Every year, this day provides an opportunity to emphasise the crucial importance of these areas in terms of natural resources, biodiversity, identity, cultural heritage, ways of life, and more resilient models. However, all of this is under threat from climate change, poorly targeted funding and negative perceptions of pastoral professions.Today, we are putting the spotlight on these endangered ice giants throughout our mountain ranges!Did you know that: ๐Ÿ’งThe Alps alone provide 40% of Europe's fresh water?๐Ÿ’กGlacier retreat will reduce hydroelectric energy production by an average of 10% in the Alps and by up to 35% by 2070 compared to today?๐ŸŒฑ68% of irrigated agricultural land in the plains depends directly on water runoff from the mountains? โ›ฐ๏ธBy 2034 the Pyrenees will be ice-free?๐Ÿ“ขAn appropriate governance of glacier is needed to counteract the rapid changes!๐ŸงŠ By signing the manifesto for better European governance of glaciers alongside 80 other organisations, we are calling for immediate and targeted political responses to the economic, social and environmental impacts of climate change.Have a look ๐Ÿ‘‰ www.euromontana.org/european-manifesto-for-a-governance-of-glaciers-and-connected-resources/ #IMD2025 #InternationalMountainDay #MountainsMatterMountain Partnership ...
