Mountain walk in Slovenia: discover how Cohesion Policy supports Jana

In Slovenia, older adults can benefit from numerous opportunities thanks to the European Cohesion Policy. Jana is an imaginary character created by Montana174 project, whose intention is to showcase real projects financed by the 2014-2020 Cohesion Policy for elderly people in their retirement period in mountain areas.

Discover with her from what initiatives local citizens can benefit in her mountain area:

1. SmartCare: expert support for seniors

The SmartCare expert system was developed to optimize elderly care and make at-home support for older adults more efficient and cost-effective. The project contributes to the achievement of the objectives of Smart Cities and Communities.

2. Renovation to the community centre in Komenda

The day care centre for older adults was renovated in Komenda. This centre is very important for the community as it brings together older and young people through a series of intergenerational meetings and training, while contributing to the strengthening of local and environmental awareness and to local self-care.

3. Volunteers’ help for people with dementia

The home care service network is a group of volunteers who help older people suffering from dementia and their families. Volunteers are trained as part of the “Networking of home care services in the points credit system model” project to help older people at needs without relatives or when relatives cannot take care of them. For instance, volunteers help seniors with their shopping or with medical care. The project will be carried out in different locations, including the Carinthian Intergenerational Centre.

Have a look at how Jana experienced Cohesion Policy in her mountain walk (available in English and Slovenian).
