Shetland Islands Council, United-Kingdom

Shetland Islands Council is the most northerly and second smallest local authority area in Scotland, UK. The Council is a major employer in the islands with 3251 employees. The Council consists of 22 elected members serving a population of 22,000 people.

Shetland Islands Council will host the second meeting of the partners in August 2012. Within the project the Council will contribute by researching the local area in order to baseline the current situation and allow comparisons to be drawn with other partner regions. Following this the Council will be an integral partner in working to improve local policies relating to sustainable travel, which it is hoped will improve the sustainability of mobility on the islands.
