Mountain walk in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Region (France): discover how Cohesion Policy supports Louis

In the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Region (France), retirees can find benefit from numerous opportunities thanks to the European Cohesion Policy. Louis is an imaginary character created by Montana174 project, whose intention is to showcase real projects financed by the 2014-2020 Cohesion Policy for retired adults in mountain areas.

Discover with his from what initiatives local citizens can benefit in his mountain area:

1. Nat.Sens: active discovery of natural richness

The Nat. Sens project was born to address people’s needs to get closer to nature in rural and mid-mountain areas, through more experiential forms of tourism. To this end, three sensorial paths (1 in Haute-Savoie and 2 in Piedmont) were built to connect urban poles with less-known natural areas. Tourists can enjoy barefoot walks on different landscapes alongside these itineraries (like forests, water, mud, sand), as well as discover activities to boost their other senses.

2. A centre for mobility and tourism

The Maison de la Mobilité et du Tourisme (House of Mobility and Tourism) was created at Annemasse railway station in order to facilitate citizens’ travels in the region and beyond it. Thanks to digital devices, commuters and travellers can receive real-time information on all mobility options, included potential delays for on-ongoing travels. Moreover, this House acts also as a tourist info point, hence delivering information related to the cultural offer.

3. Financial support to launch your business

The sanitary crisis linked to the COVID-19 severely impacted many businesses, especially restaurants, hotels and bars, with a negative impact on the local economy. To stimulate again the local entrepreneurial ecosystem, the “Initiative France” programme was launched to help would-be entrepreneurs to start their business. This programme offers funding schemes and guidance to entrepreneurs in different sectors.

Have a look at how Louis experienced Cohesion Policy in his mountain walk (available in English and French).
