Mountain walk in in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Region (France): discover how Cohesion Policy supports Cynthia

In the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Region (France), aspirant entrepreneurs can benefit from numerous opportunities thanks to the European Cohesion Policy. Cynthia is an imaginary character created by Montana174 project, whose intention is to showcase real projects financed by the 2014-2020 Cohesion Policy for single mothers who aim to couple their family life with the establishment of their own business.

Discover with her from what initiatives local citizens can benefit in her mountain area:

1. “Je crée dans ma région”: an incubator for local businesses

Four different antennas of the business incubator “Je crée dans ma région” (I create in my region) were set up in several locations of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Region, including one in Grenoble. These antennas support local entrepreneurs to start their activities in different sectors by providing personalized consultation or/and funding opportunities.

2. A new and more energy-performant school

In order to address the increasing number of pupils in the city of Grenoble, the elementary school “Marianne Cohn” was constructed in the Hoche neighbourhood. The school will have 10 classrooms and it will be an energy positive construction, meaning that its energy production will be more elevated than its energy consumption thanks to a combination of bioclimatic design, economical heating, ventilation system, and the installation of photovoltaic panels on the roof.

3. Stratexio: customized business support

The Stratexio initiative was born with the aim to accelerate the internationalization of French businesses. To this end, this initiative offers personalized support and a cycle of training to French entrepreneurs, as well as it helps these businessmen to develop their strategy to set up their businesses in other countries. Entrepreneurs that adhere to this initiative can benefit from both group and personal sessions, as well as an e-Learning platform.

Today, Euromontana had the pleasure to take part in the journalist training course “Transizione ecologica nelle aree montane: biodiversità, cambiamento climatico e sviluppo sostenibile”, organised by Università della Montagna with the Ordine dei Giornalisti della Lombardia (the Lombardy Association of Journalists 📰)The course, bringing together 65+ participants, focused on how to better understand and report on ecological transition in mountain areas, from biodiversity and climate change to sustainable development ⛰️👉This matters because the way mountain areas are reported shapes the way they are understood and, ultimately, the way they are governed! We were pleased to join our member UNIMONT in this exchange. Prof. Anna Giorgi highlighted the need to change the way mountain areas are perceived, beyond fragility and marginality. Stefano Sala then showed how issues such as depopulation, winter tourism, climate change and public policy require a more nuanced reading of mountain realities 🔍 For Euromontana, Guillaume Corradino brought a European perspective to the discussion. He stressed that :1️⃣ mountains are not Europe’s margins, but diverse and complex living territories, and 2️⃣ stronger place-based policies and European cooperation are needed to move from recognition to implementation. Thanks again for the organization, the opportunity, and to all the participants 👏 ...
