Young people to the mountain tops this summer

Mountain areas are keen to welcome young travellers this summer and Euromontana has spotted three unique opportunities for young mountaineers from all over Europe. Don’t wait any longer to book your summer holidays!

  1. Travelling by train, discovering the Alps, taking up responsible challenges: the second edition of the “Youth Alpine Interrail” project once again invites young Alpine people to explore the Alps. Discover eight Alpine countries by train and bus and preserve the climate from 50 euros: this is what the “Youth Alpine Interrail Pass” offers to young people aged 16 to 27, who can apply until 17 April 2019.
  2. On the 11th of July 2019, in several Alpine and Carpathian protected areas and natural sites, young people will walk and share a physical, human, cultural and artistic experience in the mountains. For this 5th edition of the Youth at the top festival, the common topic is “Myths and mountain legends”. For all types of youth groups from 6 to 28 years old. Groups of young people living in the Alpine and Carpathian valleys are specifically invited to participate. Register your event online before April 14, 2019.
  3. 1001 Alpine Nights” is an event organised throughout the French Alpine massif and bordering regions, between June 21st and September 21st, 2019. The aim of the operation is to enable as many young people as possible (6-25 years-old) to have a first experience in the mountains through a night outing or a stay. Imagined and led by a group of actors gathered within the Educ’alpes network, this operation offers a framework for bringing groups of young people to discover the mountain.

If you want are interested in the topic of young people in mountain areas, have a look at the proceedings of the XIIIth European Mountain Convention, including the good practices which were presented during the event and the final declaration.
