On the 18th May 2017, the Committee of the Regions (CoR) organized an event on “The future of Cohesion Policy in the EU” gathering EU institutions representatives and many stakeholders. The event followed the adoption of the CoR’s opinion on the of Cohesion Policy beyond : For a strong and effective European cohesion policy beyond 2020” on the 11th May 2017.
The event on the Future of Cohesion Policy in the EU took place in view of future negotiations of the EU budget and with the fear of a reduction of the Cohesion policy budget. Within this context, the CoR has put forward 5 key points for the future of Cohesion policy, including rural development, territorial cohesion and mountains areas.
