Find out how Cohesion Policy improved the daily life of mountain citizens since 2014

Montana174 is a 12-month large communication campaign on the Cohesion Policy in mountain areas, funded by the European Commission – DG REGIO, and coordinated by Euromontana. Montana174 explains in simple and concise terms how the Cohesion Policy shapes mountain areas.

A collection of brochures to discover the benefits of Cohesion Policy in mountain areas

In December 2021, Montana174 showcased the stories of 25 mountain citizens and how the Cohesion Policy improved their daily lives in mountains. These stories show for instance how a computer specialist in the Lombardy Region (Italy) can now use a co-working space funded by cohesion funds or how the owner of a rural multiservice shop in the Aragon Region (Spain) can now use shared electric vehicles to go to her shop. To find out more, browse the mountain walks from Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Region (France), the Lombardy Region (Italy), Croatia, Slovenia and the Aragon Region (Spain).

The European Cohesion Policy shapes mountain areas in various ways by funding initiatives related to a wide range of sectors or actions. Funds from the Cohesion Policy for instance help to drive climate action in mountain areas, support the tourism sector, boost innovation and help improving mobility or access to education and employment for young people. To provide concrete examples of how Cohesion Policy has influenced these issues in the 2014-2020 programming period, Montana174 also published 5 thematic brochures. They show, for example, how initiatives funded by the Cohesion Policy help young people to find their first job in the Slovenian Alps, or how carpooling services, to and from work, can be set up in the French-Swiss Jura. To learn more, check out Montana174’s thematic brochures !

Stay informed!

Montana174 intends to inform mountain stakeholders on how the current Cohesion Policy works. Therefore, it will publish in the next few months a collection of factsheets to explain how mountain actors can access the new 2021-2027 Cohesion Policy funds to finance their own project. Local workshops in different mountain regions will also be organised to present these funds and how to benefit from them and answer questions from mountain citizens.

To learn more and stay informed, you can subscribe to the newsletter. Montana174 newsletters and brochures are all available in English and 5 more languages: Croatian, French, Italian, Slovenian and Spanish.
