Euromontana Board member Laura Gascón Herrero appointed to the Coordination Group of the Rural Pact

Laura Gascón Herrero, Employment and Local Development Officer of the Provincial Government of Teruel (Spain) and member of the Board of Directors of Euromontana, has recently been nominated as a member of the Coordination Group of the European Rural Pact.

This nomination rewards her years of commitment to the sustainable development of mountain areas and her constant efforts to share the knowledge and good practices resulting from the various projects she has led for the Province of Teruel (PADIMA, Move on Green and SILVER SMEs, to name but a few).

Deeply convinced of the need to take better account of rural areas, she has been an expert in the national G100, an initiative to establish rural proofing at national level, and is always proud to raise the slogan “rural pride”.

Her active work continues as Euromontana’s representative in the Rural Pact Coordination Group. This group aims to steer the development of the Rural Pact by proposing activities and strategic developments for the Rural Pact. The 30 members of the Coordination Group have a three-year mandate.

About the Rural Pact

The Rural Pact was launched in June 2022 to involve all stakeholders in delivering on the goals of the EU Long-Term Vision for Rural Areas (national, regional, and local authorities, researchers, NGOs, businesses etc.). It aims at fostering interactions and mutual inspiration between all levels of governance and stakeholders on rural development and intends to encourage public authorities that have not yet designed a strategy to address the challenges faced by rural areas to do so. All interested stakeholders are welcome to join the Rural Pact community!
