This week, thanks to the study « Labelling of agriculture and food products of mountain farming » realised by DG AGRI, Euromontana focuses on mountain crops. Despite the fact that the share of arable land in mountain areas is lower than in lowlands, its economical importance is crucial for mountain farmers. The permanent crop sector especially, although generating a lower turnover than livestock activities, is essential in Mediterranean countries where olive and fruits production is widespread.
