The High Level Steering Board of the European Innovation Partnership (EIP) on Agricultural Productivity and Sustainability reached an agreement on the Strategic Implementation Plan (SIP).
The EIP on Agricultural Productivity and Sustainability aims to foster a competitive and sustainable agriculture and forestry that works in harmony with the environment. In order to have success in building an innovative Europe, the High Level Steering Board met on the 11th of July in the presence of Commissioners Dacian Cioloș (Agriculture) and Maire Geoghegan-Quinn (Research) and achieve an agreement on the general recommendations for the EIP.
Therefore, the SIP delivers strategic advice and gives orientations to the EIP in terms of issues, bottlenecks, solutions and the question of how to create an innovation culture in European agriculture, bridging between science and practice. According to the SIP, the key issue for the success of the EIP in building an innovative Europe is to maintain all the stakeholders together, sharing their experiences and ideas.
The SIP could also be an interesting document for the managing authorities preparing the next innovation program, as includes the key challenges and action areas of the EIP, which should be taken into account for the next programming period on innovation, especially when selecting the eligibility criteria for the Operational Groups of the EIP.
