In the context of the recent recolonization of many European areas by large carnivores, the European Parliament has commissioned a study presenting the state of play in EU Member States. The study gathers the most recent data available on large carnivores’ populations in the EU’s Member States, evaluates the impact of this recolonization on farmers, and discusses options to support farmers confronted with the expansion of large carnivores.
Mr John Linnell from the Norwegian Institute for Nature Research presented the study “The revival of wolves and other larges predators and its impact on farmers and their livelihood in rural regions of Europe” during the AGRI Committee on August 29, 2018. His PowerPoint presentation is available here and the full study here .
