A new EU research project to valorise mountains’ value chains

MOVING (MOuntain Valorisation through INterconnectedness and Green growth) is an EU-funded Horizon 2020 project (2020-2024) coordinated by the University of Córdoba, in Spain. The overall objective of MOVING is to support the establishment of new or enhance the upgrade/upscale Value Chains contributing to the resilience and sustainability of mountain areas, valorising their local assets, and delivering private and public goods.

During the project, MOVING plans to do the inventory of 400 mountain value chains and studies in-depth 23 case studies spanned across in16 countries (including 4 non-EU countries) to see notably how these value chains should adapt to climate change and where their vulnerabilities are. It also plans to produce a mobile application available for stakeholders. Foresight analysis such as policy recommendations should also be delivered towards the end of the project.

Marie Clotteau, the Director of Euromontana is involved in the advisory board of this project, to follow its development and results and provide expertise on mountain values chains, such as on the optional quality term for mountain products.

Let’s hope this project will help farmers and all actors of the mountain supply chains to better cope with climate change adaptation and will give appropriate answers to their challenges.
