Capitalisation event on sustainable transport: MOG was one of the 15 projects represented

MOG was in Brussels on 28th November 2013 on a Capitalisation event on sustainable transport with 14 other European projects working on this thematic (POSSE, POLITE, PIMMS CAPITAL, RITS-NET, ECOTALE…), organized by the INTERREG IV C JTS. Following the first capitalization exercise last year, a first report integrating some Good practices of all the projects and recommendations was prepared by Robert Stüssi, expert in sustainable transport. The objective of this second capitalization event was to go deeper in the analysis (collecting data, networking and mutual learning among the projects), to validate the findings from the capitalization and to improve the report by integrating new recommendations and good practices.

15 INTERREG IV C projects working on 9 main areas
For the 6 closed projects, the expert on sustainable transport has analysed 94 Good Practices (GP). He has defined 9 categories for these GP in his Capitalisation Report on Sustainable Transport:
1. Transport and Land Use Planning
2. Regional Transport Authorities
3. Financing Public Transport
4. Encouraging the use of Public and Shared Transport
5. Mobility Management
6. ITS – Intelligent Transport Systems
7. Accessible Transport
8. Encouraging Low Emission Transports
9. Sustainable Transport Awareness Campaigns.

Each project was invited to illustrate one of these categories, with one Good Practice collected by his /her project. D-AIR project presented Filéo, a bus on demand practice as a concrete example of “Encouraging the use of public and shared transport”. RITS-NET project presented the myCicero platform which helps to find free parking places to illustrate the “Mobility management” topic. MOG representants (Marie Clotteau from Euromontana and Martina Jauck from Regional management Burgenland) were invited to present the “Auvergne Mobilité” Good Practice to illustrate the “Regional Transport Authorities” topic.

Please find here all the presentations for each project

Conclusions and Recommendations at the end of the day
Due to the size of the audience (more than 40 persons), only a few experts were invited to share their impressions at the end of the capitalisation day. They recommend the following:
– To implement a Tech Transfer Office or at least a knowledge /innovation centre to facilitate transfer and dissemination of innovation. This centre could do the links between fundamental and applied research and concrete marketing solutions for new sustainable transport solutions.
– To organise parallel training sessions between the different projects to share Good Practices in a more deepen way
– To look at the transferability of the Good Practices by checking the local context and the concrete challenges that have to be addressed
– To ensure a good communication: keep the message simple for the citizens in order they support the new sustainable transport solutions.

Capitalisation’s future
The INTERREG IV C JTS is planning a third capitalisation event to take place in May/June 2014 to present both to stakeholders and to the general public, the final capitalisation report. It will integrate the outcomes of the second year of this capitalisation exercise and the feedback collected from all the participants.

In the next programming period, INTERREG EUROPE will fund four Policy Learning Platforms (PLP). These networks platforms will gather experts who will answer to all the questions, asked by all the partners. These PLP will be on the following thematic:
– Strengthening Research, Technological Development and Innovation;
– Enhancing the competitiveness of SME;
– Shift towards a Low Carbon Economy
– Protecting the environment and promoting resource efficiency.
