French Prime Minister Manuel Valls welcomes members of the National Association of Mountain Elected Representatives

In the framework of the French new territorial reform, French Prime Minister Manuel Valls welcomed several members of ANEM, the National Association of Mountain Elected Representatives, on Tuesday the 17th of June.

During the meeting, the ANEM has drawn up several proposals to the Prime Minister related to the mountain areas, such as:

  • The creation of a directorship in charge of mountain areas.
  • A guarantee for mountains to be well managed, by maintaining an administrative level between region and municipality, the French “département”.

The Prime Minister paid close attention to those requests and promised he would give his consent for some of them. He also showed his intention to gather a Mountain National Council before the examination of the territorial reform text. In addition, Manuel Valls confirmed his attendance to the 30th ANEM congress in Chambery on the 17 of October.
