Good Practice of the Week: Discobus in Burgenland

In rural and mountain areas for young people who have no access to a private car, going out at weekends is a problem. Until the start of the “Discobus” parents either had to worry about the safety of their kids (is the person who is supposed to bring them home really sober?) or meet them in the middle of the night at the disco.

The objective of this initiative is to enable young people to travel for cheap (return ticket: €2.00) in an environmentally-friendly way at weekends.
The discobus has agreement with 118 villages / Communities of the Burgenland. These bus have traditionally two early evening tracks (between 8 and 10 pm) and two or three home tracks starting from midnight up to 4.00 or 5.00 am.
A good way to let young have fun on week-end and be sure they come in a safer way.
