Guide on state aid and services of general economic interest

The European Commission has published a new version of its guide to the application of the European Union rules on state aid, public procurement and the internal market. The guide has been updated with the elements of the “Almunia package”, adopted between late 2011 and early 2012 and introducing new rules on subventions allocated to services of general economic interest (SGEI) and social services of general interest (SSGI). This guide helps to clarify the rules and to specify the amendments recently entered into force for the local collectivities, which are very affected by these rules. The one-hundred-page document is presented in a question-and-answer format and illustrated by concrete examples.
