Horizon Europe missions: a new approach to research and innovation

The Horizon Europe Missions are one of the main novelties for the forthcoming 2021-2027 period and will be launched at the beginning of 2021. In September 22-24, 2020, during the Research and Innovation Days, the proposals on the vision and blueprint of each Mission has been delivered to the European Commission by the Mission Boards, which consisted of independent high-level experts selected to this end.

This article (for members only) aims to drive you in how the concept beyond the mission-oriented approach works and the functioning of the Missions. Within the five proposed Missions, two are focused on soils and adaptation to climate change and are therefore of particular interest to mountain stakeholders. Our article thus also guides you in detail through these two new working axes.
