A house like a sheep: the new Climalp report on sustainable construction and refurbishment

In winter they stay warm and in summer they keep cool: thanks to their wool, sheep have a natural isolation that allows them to adapt to temperature. Buildings should work in the same way to avoid losing their energy through the windows. The construction industry consumes indeed many resources: grounds, building materials, energy…

On this basis, CIPRA has launched a Climalp information campaign in 2004 to show that it is possible to build and refurbish without an active heating system and that the Alps have a huge potential as wood suppliers for construction. 10 years later, CIPRA has updated its report where it addresses many themes: simplicity in buildings, land-use planning, ecological materials, energy performance, grey energy, renewable energy, the legislation of seven Alpine countries or funding possibilities.

If you want to download the report in French, German, Italian or Slovenian, please click here.
