In the municipality of Ornica, in Lombardy region (Italy), the administration has invited residents to register their homes in a local hotel chain, created with this opportunity.
Following this initiative, the municipality was able to communicate on the local tourism offer, while offering the hosting on-site (whereas earlier there were no adequate solutions). Not only the presence of tourists has increased (to 1500 nights spent / year), but also the income of inhabitants and of the municipality.
This initiative was presented as a good practice in the project PADIMA (Policies against depopulation in mountain areas). If you want to learn more, read the presentation of the initiative.
