Join us at 2019 the Regions’ Week!

During this year’s edition of the European Week of Regions and Cities, taking place in Brussels, from the 7th to the 10th of October 2019, Euromontana will participate to two workshops to reflect on the development of rural and mountainous areas.

Smart Villages: overcoming the divide between rural and urban areas

On October 8 2019, Euromontana will participate to the workshop “Smart Villages: overcoming the divide between rural and urban areas“. Organised by DG REGIO in collaboration with the ENRD, the workshop will discuss how the Smart Villages concept can be instrumental for the development of rural, remote and mountainous areas. EU rural areas are places of great assets and they can become even more attractive if we enable local actors to unlock their potential. Fostering urban-rural linkages and creating synergies can help Europe to achieve more cohesive and balanced development.

Thanks to her long experience on this concept, Marie Clotteau – Director of Euromontana – will be part of a panel to discuss possibilities for EU policies to support the development of Smart Villages in rural and mountainous Europe.

Join us on October 8 from 09:15 to 10:45 to share your views and examples of Smart Villages!

Europe closer to citizens of islands mountains and sparsely populated areas

On October 8 2019, Euromontana is participating in a workshop on how “Europe can be closer to citizens of islands mountains and sparsely populated areas“. Marie Clotteau – Director of Euromontana – will take part as one of the speakers.

Organised by the European Commission (DG REGIO), in collaboration with Euromontana and Northern Sparsely Populated Areas, this workshop will focus on the post 2020 regional policy and how it can address the challenges and unleash the development potential of EU islands, mountains and sparsely populated areas by using tailor made approaches to their specificities.

This workshop will build on last year’s European Week of Regions and Cities, where two workshops on areas with geographical specificities were organised. Whereas last years’ events discussed the opportunities for mountain areas within the framework of the Cohesion Policy, this year’s workshop will expand the scope of discussions to all instruments of regional policy.

Join us on October 8 from 11:30 to 13:00 to share your views on the future of regional policy and your examples of specific solutions!

Please note that places are limited, consult the full programme and register before September 27, 2019.
