LIFE (“The Financial Instrument for the Environment”) is a programme launched by the European Commission and coordinated by the Environment Directorate-General.
The latest LIFE Focus publication highlights the role of LIFE Nature funding in helping to conserve Europe’s endangered large carnivores, by addressing actual and potential conflicts with people living in areas where these species are present.
The publication includes the main policy factors regarding the conservation of large carnivores and the contribution of LIFE to improve their coexistence with humans through successful projects concerning brown bear, wolf and Eurasian lynx. It also draws conclusions of what worked well and what not and the lessons learnt to take them into account for the next programming period 2014-2020.
