“Mountains as challenging areas”: Euromontana has made a presentation at Isara

IMG_0612The 6th February 2015, Damiana Maiz, Policy Officer at Euromontana, had the occasion to give a class at ISARA-Lyon on how to represent mountains at European level. The course was given in the framework of the module “Mountains as challenging areas”, offered to the students of 4th year of Agricultural Engineering at ISARA-Lyon.

IMG_0613This module aims to be an introduction to rural development issues, taking the case of European mountain areas as an example. Running from the 2nd to the 13th January, it includes the participation of several experts, including Andreja Borec, from the University of Maribor (member of Euromontana), who gave a class on mountain products.

IMG_0614During the four hours of lesson given by Damiana Maiz, the students had the occasion to learn more about the work done by Euromontana at European level. A role game related to the writing of project proposal gave the students the occasion to learn more about the access to European funding. Details in the implications of the new Common Agricultural Policy to the mountains and the specifications of mountain agriculture were also explained.
