The conference ‘Rural development: A critical opportunity for people and biodiversity’ took place in Turin (Italy) on the 6th of November 2013. It was organised by BirdLife Europe together with LIPU (BirdLife in Italy) and BirdLife Austria, and it brought together several speakers proceeding from different backgrounds to discuss the new EU rural development policy. The conference also aimed at exploring new economic and environmental opportunities and stressed the challenges the Alpine region faces.
