The Regional Innovation Monitor is a platform promoted by DG Enterprise and Industry of the European Commission which provides detailed information on regional innovation. This information is available for 20 of the EU Member States: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Spain, Sweden and the United Kingdom.
The core of the RIM service is a knowledge base of information on some 200 regions, including:
- An ‘inventory’ of regional innovation policy measures, policy documents and organisations.
- A single access point for good practice dissemination on regional innovation policy in Europe.
- An on-line interregional comparison of innovation performance and governance trends by means of the benchmarking tool.
- A new communication platform for innovation stakeholders.
The RIM platform can be a really useful tool if you are interested in what is going on in terms of innovation in your regions or others, being at the same time an exchange platform that helps regions to identify interesting initiatives in other regions and to share their own initiatives.
