Have your say on Rural Development Programmes: consultation is opened

The European Commission has opened a public consultation to allow citizens and organisations from across the EU to give their feedback on the effectiveness of the Rural Development Programmes that were funded from the Common Agricultural Policy budget for the period 2007-2013. This consultation, that will run until 20 April 2018, is the opportunity to assess what worked and what did not work during the 2007-2013 period, to improve rural development programming in the future.

Among the questions asked, respondents can give their opinion on whether they believe that rural development programmes have improved the competitiveness of agriculture and forestry, contributed to improving the environment and the countryside, as well as improving the quality of life in rural areas and helping to diversify the rural economy.

The results of this public consultation will also feed the European Commission’s ongoing work on the improvement of the EU Communication on Food & Farming (published in November 2017), by helping to inform future policy proposals.
