Sweet mountains

Some Italian West Alpine companies and villages have built up a network to support a new tourism approach in mountain tourism, valorizing the differences and characteristics of its members .

These enterprises and villages are committed to a sweet, gentle and responsible tourism. On the one hand, tourism is sweet, because the relationship between human beings and nature is based on mutual respect and also because these involved actors have chosen means of transport and activities which are rejecting heavy infrastructures and polluting and noisy entertaining. And on the other hand, tourism is responsible, because  these actors put the emphasis on the added value for the region, the population and the tourists themselves.

Hence the project is insisting on the necessity to enhance the differences and characteristics of each area, focusing on its cooking, the colours, the smells, the landscapes, the exchange of cultures…

This sustainable tourism approach is close to Euromontana’s approach of tourism developed in the last communication on the future of European tourism, written in March 2014.

This good practice comes from CIPRA’s (International Commission for the Protection of the Alps) web site
