Internship opportunity – September 2021 to February 2022

Euromontana, the European Association of mountain areas, offers in its Brussels office a 6-month internship as Communication Intern from September 2021 onwards.

Only students able to provide a traineeship agreement from a university will be selected.

We offer: an interesting experience to work on the communication of an EU project coupled with networking opportunities within a well-established European association (25 years).

 

Main missions

You will be under the responsibility of the Project Manager of Euromontana and your responsibilities will include:

  • Support for Montana174 project (a 1 year EU project focused on Cohesion Policy in mountain areas :
    • Communication tasks: writing in English items of news for the website; updating the website; drafting the project newsletter, shooting videos, preparing and animating social medial campaign, improving the layout of documents;
    • Others: support in drafting minutes of meeting, support in drafting short pedagogical materials and good practices linked to Cohesion Policy, support the manager during the reporting of the project;
  • Support the organisation in the preparation of Euromontana events and conferences (logistics, communication)
  • Support in other activities: the intern might also be requested to participate in other activities for our network (such as support on communication around the Youth Survey the network is currently disseminating).

 

Required profile

You have a tertiary education degree (Masters, 5 years), Preferably in communications. Profiles in EU affairs, EU funding and projects or journalism will also be considered.

You have an excellent professional command of  English, French would be an asset.

You have very good written communication skills.

You have a good command of Microsoft office tools, especially Word and social media (Facebook, Twitter). You are open to using other tools (Canva, WordPress, Mailchimp, Excel).

Dynamic, enthusiastic and motivated, you are comfortable in a small organization, are not afraid of multitasking and are solutions-oriented. You are interested in the topic of Cohesion Policy and curious to learn about EU policies and projects.

 

Compensation

Interns cannot be remunerated under Belgian Law, but intern will receive Ticket Restaurants, reimbursement of the STIB (metro/bus card) costs and the Intern will have two weeks oh holidays during Christmas time.

Today, Euromontana had the pleasure to take part in the journalist training course “Transizione ecologica nelle aree montane: biodiversità, cambiamento climatico e sviluppo sostenibile”, organised by Università della Montagna with the Ordine dei Giornalisti della Lombardia (the Lombardy Association of Journalists 📰)The course, bringing together 65+ participants, focused on how to better understand and report on ecological transition in mountain areas, from biodiversity and climate change to sustainable development ⛰️👉This matters because the way mountain areas are reported shapes the way they are understood and, ultimately, the way they are governed!We were pleased to join our member UNIMONT in this exchange. Prof. Anna Giorgi highlighted the need to change the way mountain areas are perceived, beyond fragility and marginality. Stefano Sala then showed how issues such as depopulation, winter tourism, climate change and public policy require a more nuanced reading of mountain realities 🔍 For Euromontana, Guillaume Corradino brought a European perspective to the discussion.
