Launch of the 2017 call for proposals for the promotion of agricultural products

On January 12th, 2017, the European Commission published its 2017 call for proposals and new programme guidelines for the Promotion of Agricultural Products. The deadline to submit applications is April 20th, 2017. You can find the programme guidelines in their entirety on the Consumers, Health and Food Executive Agency (CHAFEA) website at this link or the DG-AGRI website at this link.

As in 2016, the new programme is divided into two sub-programmes:

  • Simple Programmes (AGRI-SIMPLE-2017): With a budget of 85,5 million Euros, the simple programme funds projects by one or more organizations based in EU Member States.
  • Multi Programmes (AGRI-MULTI-2017): With a budget of 43 million Euros, the multi programme finances projects finance projects from at least 2 organizations located in at least two Member States or one or more European organizations working together.

As was the case in 2016, mountain products are eligible for the 2017 Promotion Programme, per EU Regulation 1144/2014. We encourage network members to seize this funding opportunity and to contact the Secretariat if they would like to partner with other members of Euromontana or with outside organizations. To submit an application, visit the « Participant Portal ».

The Consumers, Health, Agriculture and Food Executive Agency (CHAFEA) is holding an information day on the 2017 call on January 31, 2017. The event will be held in the Albert Borschette Congress Center (CCAB) Building in Brussels.  For more information, visit this link.

Today, Euromontana had the pleasure to take part in the journalist training course “Transizione ecologica nelle aree montane: biodiversità, cambiamento climatico e sviluppo sostenibile”, organised by Università della Montagna with the Ordine dei Giornalisti della Lombardia (the Lombardy Association of Journalists 📰)The course, bringing together 65+ participants, focused on how to better understand and report on ecological transition in mountain areas, from biodiversity and climate change to sustainable development ⛰️👉This matters because the way mountain areas are reported shapes the way they are understood and, ultimately, the way they are governed! We were pleased to join our member UNIMONT in this exchange. Prof. Anna Giorgi highlighted the need to change the way mountain areas are perceived, beyond fragility and marginality. Stefano Sala then showed how issues such as depopulation, winter tourism, climate change and public policy require a more nuanced reading of mountain realities 🔍 For Euromontana, Guillaume Corradino brought a European perspective to the discussion. He stressed that :1️⃣ mountains are not Europe’s margins, but diverse and complex living territories, and 2️⃣ stronger place-based policies and European cooperation are needed to move from recognition to implementation. Thanks again for the organization, the opportunity, and to all the participants 👏 ...
