Mountland: a research project for the mountain regions

The research project “Mountland” evaluates the effects of the global warming on the agriculture and the silviculture of the mountain regions. This study covers three Swiss regions located in the cantons of Vaud, Valais and Grisons.

The results obtained show that the effects on the considered areas are very heterogeneous. Therefore the strategies planned cannot be perceived in a global way and they have to adapt to the local conditions. This means particularly that the political measures adopted have to promote some flexibility as well as intersectoral coordination (land planning, agricultural and silvicultural policy). Finally, it is necessary to encourage the collaboration of all the stakeholders concerned.
