Your voice in Europe: two new open consultations on tourism

The European Commission has launched two new open consultations on tourism:

Consultation on the European Tourism of the Future.

The main objectives of this consultation are better identifying the key challenges and opportunities for the European tourism industry and help revising, if necessary, the Action Plan for the sector adopted by the European Commission in 2010 (read it here).

If you are a tourism-related business, a business association, a trade union, a public authority at any level, an academic institution (or one of its members), a think tank or an NGO, you are invited to share your point of view by filling in this questionnaire and submit it before 15th March 2014.

Consultation on Regulatory and Administrative Framework on Tourism Businesses, Public Administrations, and other Tourism Stakeholders in the EU

The objective of this consultation is to identify all the EU, national, regional and local policy initiatives and administrative practices where there still can be reduced the burden for SMEs, EU tourism destinations, public administrations and tourists visiting EU Member States from within or outside Europe.

All individuals and public and private stakeholders can take part on the consultation by filling this questionnaire and submit it before 15th March 2014.

Today, Euromontana had the pleasure to take part in the journalist training course “Transizione ecologica nelle aree montane: biodiversità, cambiamento climatico e sviluppo sostenibile”, organised by Università della Montagna with the Ordine dei Giornalisti della Lombardia (the Lombardy Association of Journalists 📰)The course, bringing together 65+ participants, focused on how to better understand and report on ecological transition in mountain areas, from biodiversity and climate change to sustainable development ⛰️👉This matters because the way mountain areas are reported shapes the way they are understood and, ultimately, the way they are governed! We were pleased to join our member UNIMONT in this exchange. Prof. Anna Giorgi highlighted the need to change the way mountain areas are perceived, beyond fragility and marginality. Stefano Sala then showed how issues such as depopulation, winter tourism, climate change and public policy require a more nuanced reading of mountain realities 🔍 For Euromontana, Guillaume Corradino brought a European perspective to the discussion. He stressed that :1️⃣ mountains are not Europe’s margins, but diverse and complex living territories, and 2️⃣ stronger place-based policies and European cooperation are needed to move from recognition to implementation. Thanks again for the organization, the opportunity, and to all the participants 👏 ...
